Humble Geochemical Services employee scores TD in Super Bowl!!!

David Givens #87

David Givens #87 helped the New England Patriots win Super Bowl XXXVIII only 4 years after grinding samples for TOC and Rock-Eval.

We always say our sample preparation people are key to getting high quality samples into the laboratory, but we didn't realize that they were also keys to winning Super Bowls!!!

Congratulations, David and New England!

David Givens, former geochemical technician now rookie wide receiver (#18) with the New England Patroits

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Engineering Design and started games all 4 years for the Irish. I know many of you didn't think ND had a passing attack, but if they had, Givens name would be a lot more familiar to football fans. David was our fastest employee (although Berry was pretty doggone fast) and could perform sample preparation, sample loading, and Rock-Eval programming in 4.2 seconds about his time in the 40 yard dash. He was challenged numerous times by fellow employees to have a foot race, but fortunately he declined. His parents live here in Humble and his brother graduated from Yale (and played football there) and his older sister from Texas Southern. We expect the younger Givens kids to be Notre Dame alums in the coming years.

Bertrand Berry, former geochemical technician now defensive end (#92) with the Denver Broncos

Bertrand specialized in pulverizing rock samples - and we mean pulverizing! At 6-3 and 250 lbs only Bob Elsinger, now of Shell International, could hold his own with Bertrand. He graduated from Humble High School and graduated in 3.5 years from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in communications. His mom teaches honors economics at Humble High School and probably pushed him through ND in 3.5 years to save on her food bill. If you invite him for dinner, be sure to have lots of food.
