Portable Source Rock Analyzer™

A portable field pyrolysis screening tool

The Portable Source Rock Analyzer is a pyrolysis and detector system designed for use by geologists while working in the field at the outcrop or well site. The instrument is primarily intended for use as a screening tool to reject lean and non-petroleum rock samples at the operational site and to identify rocks (sequences) having hydrocarbon source potential prior to sending samples for more detailed geochemical analysis.

This instrument responds to both the free oil and kerogenous organic matter providing a total hydrocarbon yield (S1 + S2).

The Portable Source Rock Analyzer can provide semi-quantitative pyrolysis yields permitting selection of samples for quantitative and detailed laboratory analysis for further study thus:

Specifications

The Portable Source Rock Analyzer System has undergone a long period of development and exacting laboratory evaluation followed by extensive field testing and world wide operational use. It has been designed of discrete sub-assemblies which may readily be replaced on-site with minimum of back-up, knowledge, tools, or equipment.
