What Makes It Smart?

The Smart Cryogenic Focusing Device or (SmartCryo) is smarter than the other cryo devices for many reasons.

Operates independent of the GC and data control software, but
Can communicate with any GC
Cryo Time Out. It knows when it hasn’t been used for a period of time and will go into standby to save coolant.
Out of coolant. It won’t let the GC run if it runs out of coolant.
Adjustable cool set point
Adjustable hot set point
Audio commands. It verbally tells you when it is “ready”, “standby”, or “time out”
Bypass Mode, run the GC and not use the SmartCryo

Smart Cryogenic Focusing Device (SmartCryo) from Humble Instruments & Services. Inc. Adaptable to all GC systems, but specifically designed for Agilent 6890 GC systems, the SmartCryo offers a variety of cooling, heating, and hold time options. The SmartCryo is computer programmable and is fully compatible with Agilent automatic samplers.

The SmartCryo is required to obtain high-resolution gas chromatographic fingerprints from thermal extraction of sample matrices containing volatile compounds. The SR Analyzer – TEPI WorkStation (Thermal Extraction & Pyrolysis Inlet) uses the SmartCryo for focusing volatile hydrocarbons during thermal extraction and during pyrolysis.

Software Control

The SmartCryo is controlled via an interface between the SmartCryo control module and the computer running Agilent ChemStation.

The SmartCryo is programmable via default methods or user-specified program temperatures and rates. The following items are customizable:

Easy Installation

The SmartCryo is easy to install and requires little or no maintenance. The SmartCryo installation takes approximately 15 minutes and requires only a screwdriver, a 9/16” and a 5/16” open end wrench for the coolant connections, and then just feed the column through the SmartCryo. Software control provides ease of use and control over initial and final temperatures as well as other options.
