Wax Fingerprinting WorkStation

A complete system for on-column or thermal extraction high temperature GC fingerprinting of waxes

The detection of high molecular weight waxes (>C40+) in rock and oil samples is necessary to avoid costly production problems from precipitation of these waxes in the well bore and delivery system. Typical gas chromatographic analysis only extends into the low C40 carbon range and does not provide an indication of high molecular weight waxes. Furthermore, detection of these waxes is dependent on oil sampling and rock extraction techniques which can result in loss of these compounds.

The Wax Fingerprinting WorkStation has two options which may be installed side-by-side:

The advantage of thermal extraction high temperature gas chromatography is that the solvent extraction step is eliminated (which can also result in decreased wax yields during fractionation) and the fingerprint is comparable to a syringe injection of an oil. In fact the thermal extraction injector can be used for oils. On-column injection results in minimal discrimination of high molecular weight waxes which occurs during split injection techniques. This injection technique can be used for oil or rock extract samples
